These regions share a diversity of emerging ethnicities, religious communalisms and subaltern political identities that are redefining their respective states. The workshop reflects on the dynamics of group formation and the coexistence of multiple religious identities in time of political change.
2016 October 6th Latin American Indigeneities Workshop, University College Cork, This workshop addresses Latin American expressions of indigeneity. Indigeneity discourses emerge in Latin America as identity politics and in the form of political movements focused on emancipation and liberation as they seek to reclaim a pre- colonial dignity and sovereignty against settler discrimination and marginalisation (Varese and Chirif 2006).
